Jumping out of a plane in mid-flight is unlike anything you’ve ever done before. You experience a mix of emotions that range from unparalleled fear and pure joy to an overwhelming sense of empowerment and accomplishment. Everyone’s journey is different – your skydiving story is yours to discover! Ready to experience the best tandem skydiving in Central Oregon? Let’s go!
Every skydive has three parts – freefall, parachute flight, and landing. As a tandem skydiver, your instructor will handle the logistics and technical aspects of it all, but you’ll play a role too.
Arrive at your reservation time. Check in, complete some paperwork and, if you didn’t purchase one ahead of time, this is your last chance to choose a media package!
Next up: ground school. This training session lasts about 15 minutes and covers the basics of exiting the aircraft, positioning your body during freefall, and lifting your legs for landing.
Your instructor will kit you out with an adjustable tandem harness and go over the play-by-play one more time. If you have questions, now’s a great time to ask.
When your load is called, you head to the aircraft and prepare for take off. Your instructor will clip your harness to theirs, securely attaching you at the shoulders and hips.
At altitude, you shimmy toward the open door and leap into the wide open sky. You immediately enter into freefall, soaring at 120 mph. THIS is what you’ve been dreaming about!
The wind rushing up at you will make you feel like you’re floating, not falling. You feel blissfully free! No worries, no stress. Just this right here, right now. Flying!!
At around 5,000 feet, your instructor will deploy the parachute. You instantly slow to a cool 15 mph. It’s peaceful, and so quiet that you can easily talk with your instructor.
Everywhere you look is spectacular! You’ve never seen Central Oregon quite like this – Snow-covered Mount Jefferson, Crooked River Canyon, the bright-blue Lake Billy Chinook, a vivid patchwork of fields and forest – gorgeous.
As you make the final approach for landing, your instructor will remind you to lift your legs at the hips so they can prepare for touch down. You’ll slide into home base, easy peasy.
Once you’re unclipped, you’re free to celebrate. Hugs, high fives, whoops and hollers – let it out! YOU made a skydive. You are a member of an elite few who know what it is to FLY!
