• Blockbuster Bend: Yes, Blockbuster, as in the video store we (of a certain age) know and love. Didn’t they all go out of business? Pretty much, except the last one right here in Bend, OR! This is an awesome opportunity to show the kids a bit of cinema history with a peek into the past.

• Skydiving at Skydive Bend: No surprise, skydiving is our favorite activity in Bend! For our over-18-year-olds and thrill-seeking parents (and grandparents!), tandem skydiving is the perfect way to bond. Those younger than 18 are welcome to watch from the ground as their family members seize the day and accomplish the extraordinary.
  
• Bend Whitewater Park: Think whitewater rafting, but in a more controlled (yet still exciting) environment – making it easier for parents to keep an eye on their kids. 

Where To Eat In Bend, Oregon 

Bend’s food scene is top-notch for foodies and families. From cozy breakfast spots to more upscale dinners, here’s a deeper dive: 

Breakfast. 

• The Lemon Tree: This elevated breakfast cafe focuses on fresh, unique, and internationally-inspired dishes.
  
• The Sparrow Tree: Home to Bend’s famous ocean-rolls, The Sparrow Tree is the spot for warm, sugary goodness. 

Lunch. 

• The McKay Cottage: Located in a 1916 bungalow, this cafe boasts tons of history and a kid-friendly menu.
  
• Toasty Food Truck: If you’re in need of some vegan eats (or just some good food!) This food truck is where it’s at. They have the best burritos and crunchwraps. 

Dinner. 

• Bangers & Brews: Argentinian food? Fancy sausages? Look no further! 
  
• Mountain Burger: Classic American fare, killer burgers, and … boozy milkshakes!
  
• Ariana Restaurant or Dear Irene: We had to add these (as they’re some of our favorites) for special nights out! Although these may not be the best spots for kids, they are ideal for date nights.

After a long day of outdoor adventure, unwind with these activities: 

• Sunset: Bessie and Pilot Butte are short trails that are manageable for younger kids, without compromising the best sunset views in the country. Pilot Butte has a designated scenic viewpoint!
  
• Stargazing: Head to Pine Mountain Observatory or simply drive away from city lights for the best stargazing experience. Kids will love spotting constellations in the night sky, and the quiet of the desert landscape makes stargazing a magical and unforgettable family moment.
