A Central Oregon local, Sara Heinemeyer found skydiving at a turning point in her life. In her early 30s, after going through a divorce, she was looking for something new—something exciting. She started with bungee jumping and loved the rush so much that skydiving was the next natural step. The moment her canopy opened on that first jump, she knew she had found her passion.
Now, Sara is an integral part of Skydive Bend, ensuring every parachute is packed with care. With five years of packing experience and three years manufacturing skydiving gear with Velocity Sports Equipment, she knows the importance of precision and safety in every jump.
Her love for aviation extends beyond skydiving. She’s currently learning to fly hot air balloons, volunteers to teach WWII history and basic aircraft mechanics at the Erickson Aircraft Collection, and has dreams of earning her private pilot’s license for single-engine aircraft. If it involves being in the sky, Sara is all in.
Sara’s favorite jumps have been snow-jumps—freefalling with a breathtaking winter landscape below. But one of her greatest flying experiences was steering a B-25 bomber and commuting in a B-17. Her love for aviation goes far beyond just jumping from planes—she’s obsessed with the sky in every way.
Sara’s journey into skydiving started as a fresh start, but it has become so much more. Whether she’s packing a parachute, jumping from a plane, or flying a vintage bomber, one thing is clear—she was meant to be in the sky.
